Shanna Rich Named Director of Operations

University of Minnesota women's basketball head coach Pam Borton announced the hiring of Shanna Rich as the team's Director of Basketball Operations today.

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Rich has been working as an administrative assistant in Minnesota's women's basketball office for the past year. Her primary responsibilities have dealt with recruiting, where she has managed recruits' schedules for campus visits and served as the liaison with Minnesota's Office of Compliance on issues dealing with recruiting. She also has scheduled the Gophers' travel plans for games, and has managed the Ball Kids program.

Rich was a community relations intern with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2009-10 season, and was a basketball operations intern with the Minnesota Lynx for the 2010 season. Her duties with the Lynx included organizing equipment purchases and scheduling team meals on game days, scheduling players' travel arrangements, developing and preparing scouting reports, and assisting the Director of Basketball Operations with daily tasks.

A graduate of Florida A&M University, Rich received her bachelor's degree in business administration in 2007. She is currently working to complete a master's degree in sports management at Minnesota.
