Scouting the Wildcats
Northwestern has had eight days off since last beating Iowa 3-0 last Thursday. The win snapped a five-game winless streak for the Wildcats, who had only scored two goals in the drought -- going 0-4-1 during the span. The Wildcats are led by freshman forward Kate Allen, who has tallied 13 points (six goals, one assist) this season. Allen is the only Northwestern player to reach double digits so far this season with senior midfielder Jennifer Baumann sitting second on the squad with seven points (three goals, one assist) in 2010. Senior goalkeeper Carolyn Edwards is Northwestern's everyday netminder -- appearing in all 16 games and averaging one goal against. Edwards has made 56 saves in 2010 and has pitched three shutouts. Northwestern is coached by fifth-year coach Stephanie Foster (Northwestern, 1998).
