The Minnesota volleyball team was ranked for the 43rd week in a row, as it moved up one spot to No. 19 in this week's AVCA Top 25 according to an announcement on Monday, Nov. 1. The Gophers received 399 points in the top 25 poll this week.
With the No. 19 ranking, the Gophers have now been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 43 straight weeks dating back to the final poll in 2007. That breaks the school-record for consecutive weeks in the top 25 which was set from Oct. 20, 2003 to Sept. 4, 2006.
Minnesota went 2-0 in the week as it defeated Iowa on Oct. 27 and No. 24 Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 29. With the two victories, the Gophers moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Big Ten at 7-5.
The Golden Gophers are joined by four Big Ten teams in the poll. Illinois is ranked No. 6, Penn State is No. 9, Michigan is No. 15 and Northwestern is No. 24. Purdue (23), Ohio State (19) and Indiana (7) also received votes in the poll.
Minnesota will be back in action when it travels to Indiana on Friday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. (CT). That match can be seen live on BigTenNetwork.com. The Gophers will also head to Purdue to face the Boilermakers on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. (CT). Both matches can be heard live in the Gold Zone.
