MINNEAPOLIS, November 16, 2010 -- A three-goal weekend for Minnesota senior forward Katie Bethke landed the Gophers' leading point getter on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's Team of the Week as Minnesota advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the second time in school history.

The senior, who leads the Big Ten with 13 assists and ranks second in the conference with 25 points this year, doubled her season goal total over the weekend as she helped the Golden Gophers record two-straight victories over Creighton and No. 9 Texas A&M in the opening two roundsof the NCAA tournament. The Eau Claire,Wis. native scored twice in the second half against the Bluejays including the eventual game winner as the Gophers went on to win 4-2. The senior added a third goal two days later against Texas A&M to bring her season total to six when she tapped in her own rebound to give Minnesota an insurance goal in a 2-0 shutout over the Aggies.

Bethke's three goals are currently tied for most in the NCAA tournament while she is also tied for the lead with eight shots on goal.

Minnesota hosts Georgetown in a third-round matchup this Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT. Bethke, who moved into fifth place all-time at Minnesota with 84 career points, needs just two more points this season to tie Illinois' Vanessa DiBernardo for the conference lead.
