Minnesota senior Jillian Tyler was named the CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week after her top-notch performance at last weekend’s USA Swimming Minnesota Grand Prix. Tyler was already honored this week as the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.
Tyler captured USA Swimming Minnesota Grand Prix titles in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, clocking NCAA “A” qualifying times in both events. In addition, Tyler’s time of 58.22 in the 100 breast broke her own school record and ranks as the fourth-fastest short-course time in U.S. history. She swam a season-best time of 2:08.24 in the 200 breast.
The Gopher All-American was also a member of the gold-medal winning 400 medley relay that posted an NCAA “B” time of 3:38.57.
