OVERVIEW: Under-the-radar athlete played behind two other standout defensive ends as a junior, before moving into the lineup as a senior • ranked as a two-star prospect by Rivals.com • good speed for his size • also effective on special teams • height and wingspan can cause problems for quarterbacks' passing lanes • good off the edge with the ability to get to the quarterback • has been clocked at 4.8 in the 40-yard dash.
HIGH SCHOOL: Currently attends Southlake Carroll High School • led his team to an 11-2 record and the second round of the Texas Class 5A playoffs • named second-team All-District 6-5A • ranked eighth on the team with 46 total tackles • finished second on the team with seven sacks in 2009• tallied two pass break-ups and forced one fumble • also a standout track and field athlete as a discus thrower • coached by Hal Wasson.
RECRUITING: Selected Minnesota over interest from Air Force, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Stony Brook and Vanderbilt.
