OVERVIEW: Ranked as the No. 66 cornerback in the country by Rivals.com • listed as the No. 57 cornerback in the nation by ESPN and Scouts Inc. • ranked as the No. 166 cornerback in the nation by Scout.com • earned a three-star ranking from Rivals and a two-star rating from Scout • very productive defensive back who is always around the ball • very good speed • plays zone or man coverage well • has the ability to hit and separate the receiver from the ball • good ball skills • solid in run support • could also contribute on special teams in coverage and in return game • has been timed at 4.45 in the 40-yard dash.
HIGH SCHOOL: Currently attends Valencia High School • helped lead his team to a 12-1 record in 2009, falling in the Northern Division semifinals • two-time All-CIF selection • tallied 51 tackles, eight interceptions, two pass break-ups and one sack last season • also played wide receiver, registering 20 receptions for 474 yards and seven touchdowns • also a standout track and field athlete • coached by Larry Muir.
RECRUITING: Selected Minnesota over interest from California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, UNLV and Washington.
PERSONAL: Brock Vereen was born August 17, 1992 • son of Venita and Henry Vereen • brother Shane plays running back for California • holds a 4.4 grade-point average.
