Minnesota's incoming women's tennis recruiting class has been ranked 31st overall by tennisrecruiting.net.
The Gophers' class includes Nataliya Pintusova from Minsk, Belarus and Emily Renault from Rochester (Minn.) Mayo High School.
Pintusova achieved a World Junior ranking of No. 35 last summer. She is ranked third among under-18 players in Belarus and 53rd in the International Tennis Federation World Junior rankings. She played in the main draw of the U.S. Open junior singles and doubles tournaments last summer.
Renault captured the Minnesota state Class AA doubles championships in both 2007 and 2008. She was the 2007 USTA Northern Section Doubles champion and a doubles finalist at the under-16 USTA National Open in San Antonio, Texas.
The recruiting class rankings are based on votes from a panel of junior tennis experts. Each panelist submitted his/her list of the Top 25 recruiting classes. Schools received 25 points for each first-place vote, 24 points for each second-place vote, on down to one point for each 25th-place vote. Transfer students and players who enrolled this spring were not factored into the voting process. Minnesota received a total of 12 votes from the 18 voters.
Georgia has the top recruiting class in the rankings.
