Mercyhurst - National Semifinal Notes
Team Notes:
- Mercyhurst was making its third appearance in the Frozen Four.
- The Lakers now hold a 1-4 record in Frozen Four play, and are 3-6 in NCAA Tournament play.
- Mercyhurst defeated Cornell twice on the road by scores of 4-1 on Oct. 23 and 24; The Lakers also went 9-1-1 against ECAC Hockey teams this year.
- The Lakers suffered their first loss away from home this season. They finish the year 16-1-2 away from home this year. They finished 13-0-2 in true road games and 3-1-0 in neutral site games.
- Mercyhurst has 21 shorthanded goals on the year, and has held its opposition to 24 power-play goals.
- The Lakers have been ranked No. 1 in the nation for 23 straight weeks in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and for the last five weeks in the USCHO.com Poll.
- Mercyhurst gave up only its third shorthanded goal of the season at 6:30 in the first period.
- Mercyhurst suffered its first loss to Cornell in school history. The Lakers are 9-1-1 in 11 meetings against Cornell.
- The Lakers trailed after the first period for the only the fifth time this year, and finished the year 4-1 when doing so.
- Mercyhurst is 28-1-1 when it leads after two periods.
- Mercyhurst gave up as many goals in tonight's game as it did in the first two meetings against Cornell.
- Mercyhurst is 0-1-3 in overtime games this year.
- The Lakers had not given up more than two goals since Jan. 23 when they defeated Syracuse 4-3.
- Mercyhurst has played in four overtime games in nine NCAA Tournament contests. The Lakers are 0-4 in those contests
- Mercyhurst came into tonight's game with 37.40 shots on goal per game. The Lakers finished with 30.
Individual Notes:
- Mercyhurst had five 20-goal scorers, three players with 50 points or more and five with 40 points or more heading into tonight's game. None of those players tallied a point tonight.
- Kylie Rossler scored her fifth goal and had her third assist of the season in the game.
- Rossler scored her first goal since Feb. 19 when she had a goal at Wayne State.
- Meghan Corbett scored her third goal of the season.
- Corbett's goal was her first since Jan. 2 when she had a goal against Minnesota State in an 8-2 victory. She scored her other goal two games earlier at St. Lawrence on Dec. 11.
- It was Corbett's first point since Feb. 19 when she had an assist against Wayne State on Feb. 19.
- Lauren Jones had her seventh assist of the season.
- The assist was Jones first of the postseason, and her first point since Feb. 6 when she had a goal and an assist at Robert Morris.
- Pamela Zgoda had four shots in tonight's game. Zgoda has 20 shots in her last five games. She has four shots or more in five games this year.
