Minnesota Duluth- National Championship Notes
Team Notes:
- Minnesota-Duluth is now 5-1 national championship games. The Bulldogs won in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2008. Minnesota-Duluth suffered its only loss in a championship game in 2007.
- The Bulldogs are 11-2 all-time in the Frozen Four and 15-4 in NCAA Tournament play.
- Minnesota-Duluth finished the season with a nine-game winning streak, and has gone 19-1-1 in its last 21 games.
- Minnesota-Duluth failed to score in the first period for the first time since Feb. 13 when it lost to Ohio State 6-3.
- It was the first time since Dec. 4 that Minnesota-Duluth did not score a goal in the first two periods of a game. In that game, the Bulldogs lost to Wisconsin 3-1.
- Minnesota-Duluth rallied from a deficit after two periods for just the second time this year. The Bulldogs finished the year 2-7-2 in those situations. Their other win came against North Dakota when they trailed 3-2 after two periods, and won 4-3 in overtime on Jan. 30.
- Minnesota-Duluth was 4-0-2 in overtime this year.
- Minnesota-Duluth has played in the only two overtime national championship games in Frozen Four history. The Bulldogs defeated Harvard 4-3 in double overtime to win the 2003 National Championship.
- The Bulldogs are 3-0 in overtime games in the Frozen Four. They also defeated Harvard in the National Championship in 2003 and won in double overtime against Boston College in the semifinals in 2007.
- Minnesota-Duluth's two power-play goals were their second and third of the postseason.
- Today's game was the longest game in national championship history, and second-longest in Frozen Four history. Minnesota-Duluth has been a part of all three games.
- Today's three-overtime victory was the longest game in the history of Minnesota-Duluth.
Individual Notes:
- Emmanuelle Blais scored her 32nd goal of the season.
- Blais' power-play goal was her 12th of the season.
- Blais is now tied for seventh on the single-season goals list with Caroline Oullette (2004-05)
- Blais has collected three goals and an assist in the Frozen Four.
- Blais has scored three goals and two assists in the postseason this year.
- Blais is eighth on the Minnesota-Duluth all-time goal list with 73 and eighth in points at 144.
- Blais had shots in the game.
- Jessica Wong scored the game-winning goal in the third overtime. Wong collected her 15th goal of the game and third game-winning goal of the season.
- Sara Tuominen had her 13th and 14th assists of the year.
- Audrey Cournoyer had her 19th assist of the year.
- Jamie Rasmussen had her eighth goal and 22nd assist of the year. Her 22 assists are fourth on the team.
- Rasmussen scored her fourth power-play goal of the season.
- Jennifer Harss moved into third place in goaltender wins with 27.
- Both goaltenders broke the old NCAA record for saves in a championship. Harss collected 49 saves
- Marila Posa had her sixth assist of the season.
- Tara Gray also had her seventh of the season.
