Gophers Win Six Events at Tommie Twilight

The Golden Gopher women’s track & field team won six events the St. Thomas Tommie Twilight Meet on Wednesday, May 5. Minnesota swept the top three places in both the shot put and 800-meter run.
DeAnne Hahn won the shot put with a season-best throw of 46 feet, 5 1/4 inches. Hahn was followed by Jessica Cagle in second (44-1 1/4) and Shanna Campbell in third (43-6 1/2). Cagle added a title of her own in the discus with a toss of 161-8.
Gabriele Anderson captured the title in a Gopher-loaded 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 8.58 seconds in cold, windy conditions. Nikki Swenson was second in 2:09.75, while Alena Brooks was third in a season-best time of 2:10.66.
Other Gophers winning events were Natalie Devine in the high jump (5-6), Alicia Rue (12-4) and Caty Dongoske in the hammer (152-5).
