Former University of Minnesota forward Damian Johnson spent his morning on June 16 working out for the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center. Johnson, along with several other NBA hopefuls, took part in an hour-and-a-half practice session that consisted mostly of drills and one-on-one play.

Johnson, a Thibodaux, La. Native, played in 127 games in Maroon & Gold and finished his career second on the Gophers' all-time steals list with 195 and third on the Gophers' all-time blocks list with 191 career swats.  His 64 steals as a senior this past season ties him for fifth place on the Gophers' single-season list. He came in to the season with the 11th and 12 place spots on the steals list with 59 steals and 58 steals, respectively, in his sophomore and junior seasons. He rejected 6o shots as a junior, ninth-most in program history, and followed that up with 67 blocks as a senior, seventh all-time.

The Gophers played in three-straight post-seasons in Johnson's final three seasons. He finished his career with averages of 7.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.5 steals and 21.6 minutes per game.

Johnson has already worked out for the Miami Heat this month and will work out again for the Wolves on June 18 and will be joined by his college teammate Lawrence Westbrook. The 2010 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 24 in New York City.
