Med Student Passes On Marathon-Running Career


Grunewald ran Grandma's for the first time and finished eighth with a time of 1:06.33.

Maybe Justin Grunewald should put that medical career on hold.

In June, the Brainerd High School and University of Minnesota graduate recorded the fastest time by a Minnesotan in the Grandma's half marathon in Duluth.


Six months earlier, he qualified for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.

But Grunewald believes a career in medicine will be more lucrative than what he could make running this summer, and beyond, as he takes a few months off from medical school at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
