University of Minnesota Director of Licensing Dave Lindquist was awarded the 2010 Synergy Award, which is given annually to an individual who demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to collegiate licensing. Lindquist was honored at both the International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA) luncheon as well as at the Directors’ Cup luncheon, in conjunction with the National Association of Collegiate Directors (NACDA) in Anaheim, Calif., June 23rd.
In order to be nominated for the award, nominees must meet the following criteria: Have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to collegiate licensing over the course of the past year, made significant contributions to the collegiate licensing industry through innovative or new ideas, played a vital role on-campus/in the industry through his/her leadership, demonstrated teamwork/involvement from multiple components in the licensing process and a current ICLA dues paying member from an institution, conference or bowl.
With the opening of TCF Bank Stadium, Lindquist and the University of Minnesota set out to create a commemorative logo and continue its brand throughout the football season. The TCF Bank Stadium logo was developed and used as a patch on jerseys and other apparel as well as on the post-game press conference back drop and other strategic locations around the stadium. Merchandise including the logo was widely successful in the stadium's inaugural season. Additionally, Lindquist's contributions include partnering with the 51 Target store locations selling U of M merchandise to increase royalties by creating a 20 percent off promotion prior to the Gophers first contest in their new home. The U of M saw a 16 percent increase in that area thanks to multiple initiatives spearheaded by Lindquist. The award marks the first for the University of Minnesota and Lindquist.
Lindquist is in his 17th year at the University of Minnesota. Prior to his time at the University, Lindquist was employed at Gold Country/Goldy’s Locker Room.
