Gophers' head football coach Tim Brewster believes it is vital for Minnesota to be tied with Iowa and Wisconsin as an outcome of the current conference alignment discussions.
Speaking to the media form the 2010 Big Ten Kickoff in Chicago, Brewster said that he has had great talks with both Big Ten Conference commissioner Jim Delany and Minnesota director of athletics Joel Maturi and expressed just how important it is to the Gophers that they play Iowa and Wisconsin every year.
"I think it's vital to the Big Ten," Brewster said. "It's what the Big Ten is all about, the traditions, the rivalries, playing for the Floyd of Rosedale, playing for Paul Bunyan's Axe is important to the states of Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.
And I don't think there's any question that as we look at realignment, Mr. Delany is going to figure out a way in which we play each other each and every year."
