Whalen and USA National Team Advance

Ostrava, Czech Republic -- Lindsay Whalen had two points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 16 minutes to help the USA Basketball Women's World Championship Team defeat France, 81-60, and advance tp the Second Round of the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

The US team led just 36-29 at halftime, but pulled away after the break to finish with a record of 3-0 in Pool B preliminary round play. As the top team in Pool B, the US team will face the third seed in Pool A, Canada (1-2), on Monday in Ostrava. The game time has yet to be determined.

Whalen averaged 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in the USA National Team's three preliminary round victories -- 99-73 versus Greece, 108-52 versus Senegal, and today's win against France.
