The former University of Minnesota running back duo of Marion Barber III and Laurence Maroney were each back to wreaking havoc on opposing defenses in week three of the NFL regular season.

  • Barber III, Marion - RB - Dallas Cowboys
For the third week in a row, Barber led the Cowboys in rushing with 55 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries against the Houston Texans. Barber also had one reception for five yards. The Cowboys beat the Texans 27-13.
  • Laurence Maroney - RB - Denver Broncos
Maroney had a big impact in his first active game as a member of the Broncos. Maroney finished the day with 24 yards on 12 carries, but also had a big day catching the ball with two receptions out of the backfield for 40 yards.  Maroney's effort would not be enough as the Broncos fell to the Indianapolis Colts 27-13.
  • White, Stylez G. - DE - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
White had two tackles, including a solo tackle and a tackle for a loss as the Buccaneers lost to the Steelers 38-13.
  • Hamilton, Ben - G - Seattle Seahawks
Hamilton got the start at left guard for the Seahawks for the second week in a row. Seattle took down the San Diego Chargers 27-20.
  • Spaeth, Matt - TE - Pittsburgh Steelers
Spaeth played against the Buccaneers, but did not record any statistics, as the Steelers won 38-13.
  • Decker, Eric - WR - Denver Broncos
Decker was active but did not record any statistics in the Broncos 27-13 loss to the Colts. While Decker is yet to make a reception for Denver this season, he has continued to see extended time on special teams.
  • Barber, Dominique - S - Houston Texans
Barber played but did not record any statistics in the Texans' 27-13 loss to the Cowboys.

A pair of former Gophers also made an impact for their respective teams in week 13 of the Canadian Football League.

  • Bruce III, Arland - WR - Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Bruce had five receptions for 52 yards, however Hamilton went on to lose to Saskatchewan 32-25.
  • Middlebrooks, Willie - DB - Toronto Argonauts
Middlebrooks had two tackles as Toronto fell to Edmonton 24-5.

In addition to those who were on active rosters, three former Gophers spent last weekend on the practice squad for their respective NFL teams. Marcus Sherels and Logan Payne are on the practice squad for the Minnesota Vikings, and Traye Simmons is with the San Diego Chargers' practice squad. Meanwhile, Mark Setterstrom remains on the physically unable to perform list of the St. Louis Rams.
