Lauren Gibbemeyer was named a Second-Team Volleyball Magazine All-American according to an announcement by the publication.
Gibbemeyer, who claimed First-Team All-Big Ten honors, was not eligible for AVCA All-America honors because she played in less than 67 percent of the team's matches on the season. Volleyball Magazine did not impose the same criteria, and named Gibbemeyer to the second team. She joins Blair Brown (Penn State - First-Team), Ashley Benson (Indiana - Second-Team ) and Arielle Wilson (Penn State- Second-Team) as one of only four Big Ten players to be named to either the first or second team.
She finished with a school-record 593 total blocks, was ninth on the school's all-time list in kills at 1,421 and finished second in hitting percentage. Gibbemeyer finished the season with 3.29 kps, 1.38 blps and hit .375 on the season. She became the first player in school history to collect 100 blocks in all four years with the program.
Gibbemeyer also claimed NCAA Regional All-Tournament honors and was a three-time First-Team All-Big Ten award winner. On Jan. 24, Gibbemeyer also went out to Anaheim, Calif. to train with the U.S. National program.
