Salvatore, Brunn Win Events at MSU Open

Katie Salvatore and Heather Brunn won event titles at the Minnesota State Open on Saturday, in Mankato. The Golden Gophers were represented by a small number of middle-distance runners at the meet, while most of the team had the weekend off from competition.
Salvatore led a Gopher sweep of the top three places in the mile run, crossing the finish line first in a time of 5 minutes, 7.0 seconds. She was followed by Kayla Wagner (5:07.96) and Andrea Redinger (5:08.20).
Brunn captured the title in the 600-meter dash in a time of 1:35.40. Megan Smith was third in 1:36.02.
In the 1,000-meter run, Maggie Bollig finished second with a time of 2:58.58 and Bre Valle was third in 2:59.58.
