Jordan Wettstein has been named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance vs. Iowa Saturday.
Wettstein, a junior from De Pere, Wis., saw his first extended action of the season vs. the Hawkeyes. He attempted the first point-after-touchdown and the first field goal of his career in the Iowa game, making both. Wettstein also booted a perfectly-executed onside kick in the fourth quarter, setting up the Gophers' game-winning drive.
Wettstein had seen collegiate action only once before. He kicked off twice in the North Dakota State game earlier this season. It is his first Big Ten weekly award. It is the first Big Ten weekly honor for Minnesota since Duane Bennett picked up a Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after the Miami (Ohio) game on Sept. 19.
