The Big Ten Conference has announced the end of the season awards for men's cross country. Senior Paul Hilsen was named to the Sportsmanship Award List for 2011.
Hilsen, who is a native of Lakeville, Minn., has raced in four races for the Gophers this season. His best finish on an 8k course came at this past weekend's Big Ten Championships after he covered the course in 25:19. It was Hilsen's personal best for the season, as he helped the Gophers finish third, at this year's conference championships.
To be named to this list, student-athletes were chosen as individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The student-athlete must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
