Hassan Mead Named Midwest Region Athlete of the Year

Minnesota senior Hassan Mead has earned his third U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Athlete of the Year award, the USTFCCCA announced today. Mead captured the NCAA Midwest Regional title this past weekend, in DeKalb, Ill. Mead covered the 10k course in 31:16.87 to finish first overall for the Gophers.
The Minneapolis native has now won this award three times in his career. He picked up this honor in 2008 and 2009 after winning the Midwest Regional.
The Two-time All-American and his No. 19 Golden Gopher teammates compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Ind. The national meet will be broadcasted live on a webcast through NCAA.com.
