Three Gopher Recruits Named Top 10 in State

Bona, a 5-5 forward from Coon Rapids, Minn., has played in 23 games this season. Netting 40 goals and 31 assists for 71 points, is tied for fourth in the scoring. As of Feb. 3, Bona has led Coon Rapids to an 18-5-0 record as she holds a 36-point lead over the second-highest scoring on the Cardinals. She has already surpassed her junior point totals, which was 54 points. Entering her senior year, is a four-time all-conference selection and all-metro, a senior captain and a six-year varsity player.
Lorence, a 5-7 forward, is in her senior season with Irondale High School. Leading the Knights in scoring, Lorence has scored 43 goals and 15 assists for 58 points. Of her 43 goals, 14 have been on the power play, while another four were game-winning goals. Lorence and the Knights hold a 15-7-1 record as of Feb. 3. An all-state and all-conference selection, Lorence is the school’s all-time leading scorer over 350 career points. As a junior last year, Lorence tallied 86 points to help lead the Knights to third in the state.
A 6-0 defenseman, Ramsey is in her senior season with Minnetonka High School and the only blue liner to crack into the top 10. Assisting the Skippers to a 20-1-1 season so far, Ramsey ranks second on the team in scoring with 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points. An all-state, all-conference and second team all-metro selection, Ramsey is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 166 points. A two-time team captain, has had 11 multiple-point games this season, including two five-point performances this season.
In addition to on-ice talent, criteria for the Ms. Hockey Award include academics, community/extracurricular activities, citizenship and coachability. The five finalists for the Ms. Hockey Award will be named in the Feb. 17 edition of Let’s Play Hockey with the winner announced at the Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 11:30 a.m., at the St. Paul RiverCentre.
