Moulton Earns Conference Honors

MINNEAPOLIS -- Freshman pitcher Sara Moulton has been named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week as well as the conference's Co-Freshman of the Week after helping the Gophers capture the Mizuno Classic title.

Moulton (Eagan, Minn.) allowed just four earned runs in 27 innings of work for a 1.04 ERA in earning her first Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolade. The freshman went 3-1 last week for the Gophers, striking out 26 and throwing three complete-game shutouts to lead Minnesota to the Mizuno Classic title. In her three wins, Moulton surrendered just 10 hits in 21 innings in victories over Northern Colorado, Northern Iowa and against No. 20 Oklahoma State in the championship contest. The Minnesota freshman is 13-6 this season.

Moulton is the first Gopher to earn Pitcher of the Week honors since Lacey Middlebrooks won the award on March 1, 2010 and is the first Gopher to earn Freshman of the Week honors.
