Gophers Hold Pro Day

Several University of Minnesota football players who have used up their collegiate eligibility showed their stuff to National Football League and Canadian Football League personnel Tuesday at the Gophers' indoor facility at the Gibson-Nagurski Complex.

Taking part in the Gopher Pro Day were Dom Alford, R.J. Buckner, Hayo Carpenter, Ryan Collado, Eric Ellestad, Jon Hoese, Curtis Hughes, Kyle Theret, Adam Weber and Jeff Wills. In addition to the Gophers taking part, numerous players from small colleges around the area took part in the Pro Day as well.

The athletes went through a battery of measurements and physical tests, all of which were very similar to what takes place at the National Football League Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. They were measured for height, weight and wingspan. The athletes then took part in testing for vertical leap, broad jump, 40-yard dash, the shuttle run and a three-cone drill. Following that testing, the linemen were put through some individual skill work and Weber -- the only quarterback at the Pro Day -- threw for the scouts in attendance.
