The Minnesota women's tennis program announced today the signing of Julia Courter. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native is the latest five-star recruit to sign with the Gophers. Courter joins Minnetonka High School senior and two-time Minnesota State Class AA singles champion Aria Lambert in committing to Minnesota.

Courter has been ranked as high as No. 34 in the nation and both she and Lambert are five-start recruits according to tennisrecruiting.net. Courter was home-schooled and therefore she did not play high school tennis. Courter, who is also an accomplished doubles player, advanced to the semifinals of the Amelia Island Women's Open last year with partner Alex Hirsch.

"Julia will be a great addition to our team," said Minnesota coach Tyler Thomson. "She'll make positive contributions to our team, on and off the court, and everyone here is excited for her to join the Gophers. Together, Julia and Aria Lambert, who we signed in November, form a very strong recruiting class and make our outlook for next season even brighter."
