Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration and Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Gopher Athletics Elizabeth Eull has accepted a position in the office of new University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler. Eull will start her new position as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Initiatives on August 1.

The move is a return to Eull’s roots at the University. She served as a budget officer in the University’s central budget office for nine years before joining Gopher Athletics in 2002. Among the duties of her new position, Eull will serve as the liaison from the President's Office to Gopher Athletics.

“The last nine years have been an amazing experience for me and I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people,” Eull said. “I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together and I leave with a deep sense of gratitude for all I have learned and the relationships I have made.”

Director of Athletics Joel Maturi thanked Eull for her years of service and the integral role she played in the management of Gopher Athletics.

“It is difficult to put into words the respect, appreciation and admiration I have for Liz (Eull),” said Maturi. “We have been colleagues since I arrived at the University of Minnesota and there are few people with whom I have worked as closely as Liz. We will miss her excellence, her commitment and her passion. But most of all we will miss her as a person.”

Regarded as the driving force behind balancing the athletics department budget, Eull helped restore the financial integrity of Gopher Athletics during her tenure. She also played an instrumental role in coordinating the department’s internal efforts for TCF Bank Stadium.

In addition to overseeing the athletics department’s financial operations, Eull also managed human resources and administered the Gophers men’s and women’s hockey programs.
Externally, Eull served as the athletics department’s liaison with both the University Office of General Counsel and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

Before coming to the U of M, Eull spent four years as a fiscal officer in the Minnesota House of Representatives and two years in the Minnesota Department of Finance, working with higher education budgets.

A native of Cloquet, Minn., Eull received her bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota. She then went on to acquire a master’s in public administration and higher education policy from the U of M.
