The Fast Break Club's Hoops Scramble IX last Friday, August 5, was a success. The event sold out, and 134 golfers turned out at Crystal Lake Golf Club in Lakeville, Minn. The golf scramble, auction, and dinner event is the Fast Break Club's largest annual fundraiser.

Silent and live auction prizes included golf with head coach Pam Borton, dinner with Borton, and a trip with the team to an away game. The auctions brought in a big portion of the $46,000 raised to benefit the women's basketball program. Sponsors, and paid golfers and diners, were the other main contributors to the total. Volunteers also helped to make the event a success.

Current Minnesota staff and team members participated, but Golden Gopher basketball alumni were also heavily involved in this year's Hoops Scramble. Leslie Knight (2004-08) stayed at the course all day, greeting and chatting with participants. Lindsay Whalen (2000-04) was a hole sponsor.
