Future Gopher Q&A: Aaron Bartnik

In the second of our series of features on the incoming freshman class on the men's cross country team, gophersports.com talked to Aaron Bartnik.
Bartnik is a Eden Prairie High School graduate. His high school coaches were Jeff Lindlief and Bruce Kiyimaki. He is a two time all state selection, three time all conference in cross country and a two time Section 6AA Cross Country Champion. Bartnik captured the NXN Heartland Regional Championship (15:33 in the 5K) and was named the Minnesota Boys Cross Country Gatorade Runner of the Year. Bartnik was awarded the Robert Moran Memorial Award and graduated with honors after earning a 3.9 GPA.
GS: Why did you first decide to become a runner?
AB: I had a bunch of fun with track and cross country in middle school.
GS: What made you want to come to Minnesota?
AB: I wanted to represent my home state in athletics.
GS: What are you most looking forward to in college?
AB: I look forward to meeting new people and living away from home.
GS: Do you have any pre-race rituals?
AB: I just warm up and make sure I get some good stretching in!
GS: What is some of your favorite music to listen to?
AB: I listen to a variety of stuff including some pop, rock and rap.
GS: What are your favorite movies?
AB: Lord of the Rings and The Dark Night.
GS: What are some talents or skills you have outside of running?
AB: I like to unicycle, nordic ski, and juggle.
GS: What do you plan to major in?
AB: Electrical Engineering.
GS: Do you have a favorite sports movie?
AB: Not sure about an all-time favorite, but Miracle and Remember the Titans are great.
GS: What are some of your goals for your first season as a Golden Gopher?
AB: Having an injury-free year and continue improving my performances from last year.
