Gopher Spotlight: Freshman Morgan Bohl

As the Gophers get ready for the season, gophersports.com sat down with freshman Morgan Bohl. The outside hitter from Centennial, Colo., was an All-American and a member of the All-Colorado Team as a senior last year. Here's Bohl's bio as well as a short question and answer session.
INTERNATIONAL/CLUB:
Played in six USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Tournaments (2004-09) • competed at the 2008 European Global Challenge where she was voted MVP • 2009 All-American in the AAU's-16-Open Tournament • competed with the Front Range Volleyball Club for eight years.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Named an Under Armor Second Team All-American her senior year • 2010 Denver Post All-Colorado Team selection • averaged 4.3 kps (361) and 3.6 dps (299) with Eaglecrest High School • helped the Raptors to a 26-0 run before suffering an injury • two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year candidate • 2009 Aurora-Sentinel All-City team and Centennial League MVP • second-team all-state as a sophomore • named to the Rocky Mountain News Class 5-A All-Tournament team as she helped Eaglecrest to a state runner-up finish.

Q and A
Gophersports.com: Growing up in Colorado, what were some of your top choices and how did you end up deciding to come to Minnesota?
Morgan Bohl: Some of my top choices were the University of Colorado, San Diego State University, University of Arizona, University of Virginia, and Colorado State University. The coaching staff, the girls on the team, the success of the Gopher's volleyball team, the positive environment and the academics the school offered were some of the main factors in why I picked Minnesota.
GS: You were injured at the end of your senior year. How long of a process was it to get you back healthy again?
MB: I'm not 100% yet but I'm on the right track to becoming fully recovered.
GS: You've been on the U of M campus for a while. What has been the biggest transition for you?
MB: Coming to campus not knowing many people, and learning how college works.
GS: After you committed, Mike Hebert retired, Hugh McCutcheon was hired and now Laura Bush is your head coach for your freshman year. What excites you about working with the current coaching staff?
MB: Hebert was an amazing coach, but I'm so very excited to have the opportunity to play and work with an amazing group of coaches. I am very happy that Laura is still here, and I'm excited to work with the new coaching staff and learn new technics to become successful.
GS: What are you most excited about in your college career?
MB: Being a part of such a well built program, and growing as an individual.
GS: Do you have any individual/team goals you'd like to accomplish before you're done here?
MB: As a team goal it is to win a national title, and my individual goal is to achieve an All-America award, and be a successful student athlete here at the University of Minnesota.
GS: Any idea what you'd like to major in here at Minnesota?
MB: I really enjoy math, so maybe something down that path, if not I am very interested in psychology but for now I am undecided.
