Minnesota - Michigan Preview: Game Time with Grimm

Sept. 28, 2011

Gopher Radio Network play-by-play man Mike Grimm gives you five things to watch (and listen) for in Saturday's game at Michigan:

1. ADVERSITY: Once again the Gophers have been hit with some adversity, and again it relates to head coach Jerry Kill's health. The coach is in the hospital, hopefully getting the definitive help he needs in stabilizing his seizure disorder. Meanwhile, the assistant coaches are once again putting the gameplan together for this week. The players responded well the last time Kill missed significant practice time with a win over Miami (OH).

2. CONTAIN ROBINSON: Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson is the reigning Player of the Week in the Big Ten, and for good reason. He's good. He leads the league in rushing, so it almost goes without saying that if the Gophers have any hope of pulling off an upset, they must contain Robinson's legwork and force him to throw the football.

3. SPECIAL TEAMS: Minnesota salted away its only win of the year thanks in large part to a punt block TD against Miami of Ohio. They will need another big play or two or three on special teams this week to have a shot for a win.

4. HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF?: It was 25 years ago that a Minnesota team entered Michigan Stadium as an underdog and came away with the Little Brown Jug. It seems unlikely, but maybe history can repeat itself a quarter of a century later.

5. BIG HOUSE RADIO: We'll be broadcasting Saturday's game from the newly-renovated press box at Michigan Stadium. This will be Minnesota's first visit to the Big House, since a $226 million renovation prior to last year. More than 112,000 fans will be there Saturday. Hope you'll join us for the radio broadcast on the Gopher Radio Network presented by AlarmForce!
