The University of Minnesota women's tennis team has signed two players to an acceptance of admission, head coach Tyler Thomson announced today. Kelsey Frechette from Rochester, Minn., and Jessika Mozia of Littleton, Colo., are slated to join the Gophers for the 2012-13 season.

Frechette won the Minnesota Class 2A girls' singles title in 2010 as a junior at Rochester Century, after falling in the 2009 final to current Gopher freshman Aria Lambert. She finished in third place in 2008. Frechette, who advanced to the state semifianls as a senior, is left-handed and a four-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net.

Mozia attends Colorado Academy and was the 4A Colorado singles champion in 2010 and was a state finalist in 2009. Mozia is right-handed and is a four-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net. In her spare time she enjoys coaching wheelchair tennis, volunteering with the Special Olympics and playing the violin.

"Jessika and Kelsey will both strengthen our program in many ways, on and off the court. They both have a great passion for tennis and for improvement, and they most definitely have the skill and room for growth to contribute on the court. We look forward to welcoming them in September."

This year's Gopher squad begins their spring season at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 when they host Iowa State at Baseline Tennis Center.
