Spirit Squads Finish Up Competition at 2008 UCA/UDA Nationals

The Minnesota Spirit Squads finished up competition in the 2008 UCA/UDA Nationals this past weekend at Walt Disney World. Events for the competition ran from Friday, Jan. 18 to Sunday, Jan. 20, and Minnesota competed in the Dance Team 1A Hip-Hop and Jazz categories, the Division 1A Co-Ed Cheer team competition and in the Mascot competition.
Minnesota's Dance Team finished second in the Jazz category and 11th in the Hip-Hop competition. In the Jazz competition, the Dance Team lost by just four points to Tennessee as it narrowly missed out on the National Championship.
Goldy finished in fourth place in the Mascot competition, marking the third time in four years that he has finished fourth or better in the event. Entering the contest, Goldy was ranked fifth and moved up to fourth with his finish.
Minnesota's Co-Ed cheer team also finished in eighth place. That finish matched the team's best ever.
