Five Gopher Players Earn All-WCHA Honors

The WCHA Awards Banquet was held this evening, with five Gopher players earning All-WCHA awards. In addition, 14 team members earned Academic All-WCHA honors.
On the All-WCHA first team are defensemen Anne Schleper, a senior, and junior Megan Bozek. Schleper is a four-time All-WCHA award winner, earning second-team honors as a freshman before getting first-team honors in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Bozek was a second-team honoree as a freshman in 2010 and a third-team honoree as a sophomore in 2011. Both players are among the top five in scoring by defensemen in the WCHA this season, and lead a defensive corps that allows the fewest goals per game in the nation.
Forwards Jen Schoullis and Amanda Kessel were named to the All-WCHA second team. Schoullis, a senior, is the second-leading scorer for the Gophers and seventh in the WCHA. Kessel, the 2011 WCHA Rookie of the Year, is
Goalie Noora Raty is an All-WCHA third team member, marking the third season she has earned All-WCHA acclaim. Raty was a first-team honoree in 2010 and 2011. Raty ranks second in the WCHA in goals against average, and has set school records for career shutouts and wins in a season in this, her junior campaign.
Freshman Rachel Ramsey was named to the conference's All-Rookie team. Ramsey ranks eighth in the WCHA in scoring by defensemen, and ranks first among the league's rookie defensemen. The Gophers are undefeated this season when Ramsey scores a point.
