Hoops Scramble Proves Successful Again
8/14/2012 12:00:00 AM | Women's Basketball
Even after 10 years, the Fast Break Club's Hoops Scramble is still a huge success. The event, which is the Fast Break Club's largest annual fundraiser, attracted close to 150 golfers to Crystal Lake Country Club in Lakeville, Minn., on a gorgeous August afternoon to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
After a fun-filled day on the course and bidding on silent auction items, golfers were able to enjoy a delicious dinner in the banquet hall before taking part in a live auction.
Silent and live auction items included a trip to an away game with the Gophers, golf and dinner with head coach Pam Borton at Golden Valley Country Club, a trip to Napa Valley - complete with two round-trip airline tickets, a three-night stay at the private St. Helena Winery and a private wine tasting, autographed merchandise and various gift cards to local establishments.
The auctions brought in a large portion of the nearly $50,000 raised to benefit the Minnesota women's basketball program. Sponsors, along with paid golfers and diners, were the other main contributors to the total.
Current Minnesota women's basketball staff and team members participated in the event, with Director of Athletics Norwood Teague stopping by to mingle with golfers, sponsors, volunteers, players and staff.
