Brichacova Advances on Day Two of Cal Nike Invite

The Minnesota women's tennis team has staying power on the west coast. On the second day of competition at the Cal Nike Invitational, the Gophers proved to be formidable opponents in both doubles and singles events.
The day started in the doubles category where Doron Muravnik and Tereza Brichacova pulled out an 8-2 victory over a duo from San Francisco. They then faced the tournament's No. 1 seeded pairing of Laura Posylkin and Tayler Davis (Cal) and despite giving a good effort, fell by a score of 8-4. Natallia Pintusava and Yuliana Umanets were eliminated from the Gold Flight Consolation bracket with a 9-7 loss to Nguyen/Delgado (SAC).
On the other end of the event, Brichacova continued her firepower delivery to remain undefeated in singles and to advance to today's semifinal round. Brichacova defeated Cal's Kelly Chui 6-2, 6-2 and will now face the No. 2 seed Marina Nikolic at 10:45 ET.
Umanets fell to Cessi Estlander (6-0, 6-3) in her consolation match-up, while Pintusava also saw defeat in the Gold Consolation, losing to Olga Kirpicheva of Fresno State.
