THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES

• The University of Minnesota women's basketball team is set to hit the road Thursday to take on No. 12/11 Purdue in a 6:00 p.m. contest at Mackey Arena.
• Fans can watch a live stream of the contest on Gophers All-Access, and they can also listen to the game live on KBEM Jazz 88.5 FM with Corbu Stathes and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.
• The Golden Gophers travel to West Lafayette, Ind., with a 13-4 overall record and a 2-1 league mark following their win vs. Ohio State on Jan. 10 at Williams Arena.
• The last time Minnesota opened a year with an 13-4 record was during the 2005-06 season.
• The Boilermakers host the Golden Gophers with a 14-2 record on the season and a perfect 3-0 record in Big Ten play after outlasting Ohio State Monday night in triple overtime.
• Purdue is ranked in both national polls this week, at No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
• Minnesota and Purdue will be meeting for the 57th time on Thursday, with the Boilermakers holding an 39-17 advantage over the Gophers in the all-time series which dates back to 1978.
• With 934 career points, Rachel Banham needs to score just 66 more points to become the 21st Gopher in program history to notch 1,000 career points.
• Rachel Banham is currently the second-leading scorer in the Big Ten with a 20.8 points per game average behind Ohio State's Tayler Hill.
• Minnesota boasts an impressive .455 field goal percentage, which is the 15th-best mark nationally and is tied for the third-highest percentage in the Big Ten behind Ohio State (.472), Michigan (.465) and Purdue (.455).
• Junior Sari Noga is Minnesota's team-leader in minutes played this season, as she is averaging 35.0 minutes per game.
• Minnesota will host Nebraska on Sunday, Jan. 20 in a 5:00 p.m. contest at Williams Arena.
• The game will serve as the Gophers' "Burst the Barn" contest, with Pam Borton set to donate $1,000 to five different charities should attendance reach the 5,000 mark.
