THE BASICS
Most of the team will rest this weekend after competing at the Jack Johnson Classic Jan. 18-19. A handful of Gophers from the pole vault, throws and multi-event groups will travel to Minnesota State for a two-day meet. Weight throw will be the Gophers' only event on Friday, the first day of the meet.

COACH SAYS...
"The main thing I'm looking for in Mankato is for the throws and pole vault to continue improving" director of track and field and cross country Matt Bingle said. "We're looking for them to compete well and get better each week. The next few weeks will be important "

RECAPPING THE JACK JOHNSON
Todea-Kay Willis and Alena Brooks were double event winners for the Gophers at their biggest home meet. Willis won the long jump (19-6 1/4) Friday before setting a personal record of 7.50 seconds (fifth-best in school history) in the 60-meter dash. Brooks won the 600m (1:31.49) and was part of the Gophers' winning 4x400m relay team. Christina DeLakis won the shot put (49-9 3/4), and Devin Stanford and Jeri Johnson-Chambers both posted top-10 weight throws. Laura Docherty (mile) and Bria Halama (triple jump) also won their events.
