MINNEAPOLIS – After picking up the team title at the Bill Bergan Invitational on Saturday for the Gophers’ second team championship in as many weeks, the Minnesota men’s indoor track & field team rose to seventh in this week’s U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, released on Tuesday by the organization.

The Gophers earned 71.17 total points in this week’s USTFCCCA poll to pace the Big Ten Conference. Minnesota overtook Indiana (last week’s No. 7 team) as the highest ranked program in the Big Ten this week followed by the Hoosiers in eighth with 70.11 points.

The Big Ten features four nationally ranked programs in this week’s poll with Penn State coming in at No. 12 (59.44 points) and Wisconsin at No. 14 (53.77). Arkansas remains the No. 1 team in the nation this week with 216.78 points with Florida, Texas A&M, Oregon and Arizona State rounding out the top five in this week’s USTFCCCA poll.

Minnesota scored 123.25 team points and had six individual champions to win the Bill Bergan Invitational in Ames, Iowa. The Gophers outscored runner-up and nationally ranked Wisconsin by more than 50 points in the team competition while Iowa and Kansas State tied for third.

The No. 7 Gophers return to action this week at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
