Cobb Named Earl Campbell Award Semifinalist

Minnesota junior David Cobb has been named a semifinalist for the 2013 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. He is one of the 16 semifinalists announced on Tuesday, and the finalists will be announced Dec. 9.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honors the top Division I offensive player who exhibits the following characteristics: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity. Nominees must also have been born in or attended school in Texas.

Cobb was not listed on the Gophers' season-opening depth chart, but has become the team's leading rusher with 942 yards this season. He is also tied for the team lead with seven touchdowns. Entering this weekend's matchup with Wisconsin, Cobb has rushed for more than 100 yards in four consecutive games.
