The Fast Break Club's Hoops Scramble golf event is continuing to be a huge success after 11 strong years. The event, which is the Fast Break Club's largest annual fundraiser, attracted 134 golfers to Oak Marsh Golf Course to celebrate its 11th anniversary.
Silent and live auction items included lunch with former Olympic and current Gopher volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon, which included premium volleyball tickets, a wine tasting at Pam Borton's home, a trip to Las Vegas, autographed merchandise and various gift cards to local establishments.
The auctions brought in a large portion of the nearly $53,500 raised to benefit the Minnesota women's basketball program. Sponsors, along with paid golfers and diners, were the other main contributors to the total.
Current Minnesota women's basketball staff and team members participated in the event, mingling with golfers, sponsors, volunteers, players and staff. In addition, several alums attended the event, including Mary Dressen Hedstrom (1981-84), Leslie Knight (2005-08), Susie Piram Odegard (1986-88) and Katie Ohm (2007-10).
