THE OPENING TIP - QUICK NOTES
• The Minnesota (11-5, 0-2) women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Williams Arena Sunday afternoon for a Big Ten matchup with Northwestern (11-4, 1-1). Tip off for the league contest is set for 2:00 p.m.
• The game will also serve as Alumni Day, with former Gophers invited to attend an Alumni Reception in the Williams Arena Club Room before being recognized at halftime. The 2004 Final Four team will also be recognized during the contest.
• A live stream of the contest will be available on Gopher All-Access and BTN.com, while fans can also listen to the game live on 1500 ESPN with Corbu Stathes and Lynnette Sjoquist on the call.
• In addition, live stats can be found on Gophersports.com and live updates will be available on twitter at @GophersWBB.
• The Golden Gophers enter the contest with an 11-5 record on the season and a 0-2 Big Ten record, while the Wildcats make the trip with an 11-4 overall mark and a 1-1 league record.
• With her 32 points at Iowa on Wednesday, Rachel Banham moved into a sole possession of third place on Minnesota's career register with 78 games in double figures. Lindsay Whalen holds the record with 108.
• Banham ranks second among active NCAA Division I players with a .859 career free throw percentage. She also ranks fifth in career scoring average, 9th in three-point field goal percentage, 23rd in career points, 27th in field goals and 31st in field goal attempts.
• With a single rebound at Iowa, Micaëlla Riché pulled down her 500th career rebound.
• Amanda Zahui B. currently ranks fifth on the Gophers' single-season record chart and leads the Big Ten with 49 blocks on the year. She needs 17 more to break the record of 65 blocks in a season held by Janel McCarville and 13 more to move into the top-10 on Minnesota's career record chart.
• Sari Noga will be playing in her 100th career game Sunday vs. Northwestern.
• Pam Borton enters Sunday's home contest just six wins away from reaching 300 victories for her career. She would become the eighth active Big Ten head coach to reach the 300 career-win milestone.
