Cobb Added to Maxwell Watch List

In Minnesota's win against Northwestern, Cobb passed the career 2,000-yard mark. He has run for 2,086 yards on 402 carries in 27 games. The Gophers are 8-1 in games when Cobb has surpassed 100 yards rushing.
The Maxwell Award was first presented in 1937 and is named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell. Semifinalists will be announced Nov. 3, with the list narrowing to three finalists on Nov. 24. The winner will be announced on Dec. 11 as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, and the presentation will be made Dec. 13 at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala.
Cobb was also on the watch lists for the Doak Walker Award (top running back) and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award (top offensive player who was born in or attended high school in Texas).
Senior running back David Cobb has been added to the 2014 Maxwell Award Watch List. The trophy goes to the most outstanding collegiate football player.
Cobb currently ranks seventh nationally and fourth in the Big Ten with 819 rushing yards (136.5 per game). He became the seventh Gopher all-time to record multiple 200-yard rushing games when he did so against Middle Tennessee (career-high 220 yards) and San Jose State (207).
