Brandt, McMillen Honored By WCHA

MINNEAPOLIS - Juniors Hannah Brandt and Milica McMillen have been named WCHA Players of the Week following Minnesota's sweep over then-No. 9 North Dakota last weekend. The duo helped lead the Gophers to 5-2 and 5-0 wins over UND at Ridder Arena.
Brandt is this week's WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Gophers with seven points on two goals and five assists against North Dakota. She picked up two assists in Friday's 5-2 win before contributing to all five Gopher goals in Saturday's 5-0 win, scoring two goals and setting up the other three. Brandt's five assists in the series tied her career best.
Brandt was plus-five for the series and was on the ice for nine of Minnesota's 10 goals over the weekend. She was 39-25 in the face-off circle for a .609 winning percentage for the series. Brandt registered 11 shots on goal and two blocked shots in the two games as well.
Meanwhile, McMillen picked up WCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors. She registered four points on three goals and two assists in the two wins while holding North Dakota to two goals on Friday and only seven shots on goal on Saturday.
McMillen recorded two points in each game and was on the ice for six of Minnesota's 10 goals in the series. She logged 11 shots on goal and five blocked shots for the series as well.
No. 1 Minnesota (7-0-1, 5-0-1-0 WCHA) remains at home this weekend, hosting Bemidji State (4-4-0, 0-4-0-0 WCHA) at 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.
