Minnesota to Finish Fall at Big Green Invite

HANOVER, N.H. - The Minnesota women's tennis team will conclude its fall season at the Big Green Invitational in Hanover, N.H. this weekend. The Gophers will join host Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and Boston University at the three-day event that will feature both singles and doubles action.
Competition at the tournament begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
Thus far on the fall season, the Gophers have combined for a 38-26 record in singles, led by six wins apiece by juniors Paula Rincon-Otero and Jessika Mozia and freshman Caroline Ryba. Ryba impressed at the team's last event, reaching the round of 16 in the main draw at the ITA Central Region Championships in Stillwater, Okla.
In doubles, the Gophers have gone 29-12. Senior Tereza Brichacova and freshman Mehvish Safdar have led the way with a 6-2 ledger that included a run to the Central Regional's quarterfinal round.
The Big Green Invitational will cap the Gophers' fall season. Minnesota begins the spring season Jan. 18 at the Baseline Tennis Center with matches against Milwaukee and North Dakota. The team is coming off a 2013-14 campaign in which it registered a seven-win improvement from the previous season and posted its highest overall win total (17) and Big Ten win total (six) since 2003.
