MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Three University of Minnesota women's soccer student-athletes earned conference honors at the conclusion of regular season play and the 2014 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament. Senior Becca Roberts, freshman Rachel McCloskey and junior Jen Larrick were among the honorees recognized over the last week for their contributions to the Maroon and Gold over the course of the season.
Senior Becca Roberts was named to the 2014 Big Ten Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team following the Big Ten Championship game on Sunday. During her four years as a member of the Golden Gophers, Roberts appeared in 71 games including every match during her junior and senior seasons. She tallied two career goals and three career assists with two during the 2014 season alone. Prior to her senior season, she was named one of the four student-athletes to represent the team as a captain. Roberts earned Academic All-Big Ten laurels last season. Freshman Rachel McCloskey was named to the 2014 Big Ten All-Freshman Team. McCloskey started the first fourteen games of the season before an injury cut her freshman campaign short. In those 14 games, McCloskey scored three goals and was an asset in the midfield. She tallied fourteen shots with four on frame for an average of one shot per game. Larrick transfered from Florida before the start of the 2013 season. Since then, Larrick has appeared in 34 games for the Maroon and Gold and scored 1 goal while tallying two assists.
