GAME DAY TID-BITS
• Minnesota continues a three-game homestand as it hosts Franklin Pierce in the NIT Season Tip-Off.
• Franklin Pierce, from Rindge, N.H., and out of the Division II Northeast-10 Conference, is 2-1 following a 94-81 loss at St. John's in the NIT Season Tip-Off on Monday night.
• The Ravens have notched wins over LIU Post (71-62) and New York Tech (84-74) so far this season.
• On Tuesday against Western Kentucky, Minnesota swiped 17 steals, the most in seven years since recording 18 against Santa Clara (Dec. 22, 2007). The Gophers were just four shy of tying the school record of 21, set vs. Rider on Jan. 3, 1990.
• Minnesota opened its season away from home for the first time since 1994, when the Gophers faced fifth-ranked Arizona in the Great Alaska Shootout. That is also the last time the Gophers opened the season against a ranked opponent. The results from that season were later vacated.
• Senior Andre Hollins led the Gophers against Louisville with 22 points, his highest scoring output since February 13 at Wisconsin (22 points).
• All four newcomers have entered both games thus far this season. Nate Mason has put up back-to-back, 10-point, five-rebound games while Carlos Morris has scored nine points in each contest. Bakary Konate and Josh Martin have played 12 and 10 minutes, respectively, in a reserve role.
• The Gophers are coming off a school-record 25-win season and NIT championship, their second in program history.
• Thursday's game was scheduled by the NIT as part of the Gophers' participation in the 16-team tournament. Following Saturday's home game vs. UMBC, Minnesota will next play an NIT game against St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday evening.
