Boddy-Calhoun also made five tackles (four solo). He is the third different Gopher this season to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, as Damien Wilson (Oct. 13) and Cedric Thompson (Oct. 20) have also earned the honor.
Briean Boddy-Calhoun has been named Co-Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after his pivotal role in Minnesota's win at Nebraska. It is his first career conference honor.
The junior cornerback preserved the Gophers' 28-24 lead when he stripped the ball away from a Huskers receiver late in Saturday's game. De'Mornay Pierson-El caught a pass and was reaching over the goal line when Boddy-Calhoun took the ball away to prevent the touchdown and give Minnesota the ball back with 1:19 left to play. Pierson-El was called for illegal touching (ran out of bounds during his route before catching the ball), but the Gophers declined and took over possession.
