GAME DAY TID-BITS

• Minnesota returns to Madison Square Garden on Friday for the NIT Season Tip-Off consolation game, facing the University of Georgia.

• The Gophers are in the middle of a three-game road trip at the Garden, after going 3-0 last week at home. The three home games were won by an average margin of 30.7 points.

• Georgia fell to Gonzaga, 88-76, in Wednesday's other semifinal game.

• Minnesota's last trip to New York ended with them winning the NIT title in April, knocking off Florida State and SMU to finish with the championship and a school-record 25 wins.

• The Nov. 20 game saw the Gophers score 109 points, the most in 25 years since a 116-48 win over Rider on Jan. 3, 1990. The 52-point win Thursday night against the Ravens marked the third largest margin of victory in school history.

• Minnesota also shot 73.3 percent from behind the 3-point arc, the third-highest percentage in school history (11-15). The team's 28 assists tied the program's fourth-highest single-game total (28 vs. Indiana State, 12/29/82).

• Through five games, the Gophers lead the Big Ten in steals (58, 11.6 spg), and rank second in turnover margin (+7.4) and offensive rebounds (13.6 orpg) . Senior DeAndre Mathieu is tied for the lead in the conference in steals (14) .

• On Nov. 18 against Western Kentucky, Minnesota swiped 17 steals, the most in seven years since recording 18 against Santa Clara (Dec. 22, 2007). The Gophers were just four shy of tying the school record of 21, set vs. Rider on Jan. 3, 1990.
