Team / Series Notes
• Tonight's game was the first all-time meeting in men's basketball between Minnesota and Southern, a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
• Head coach Richard Pitino improved his record at Minnesota to 33-15, while his three-year overall record moved to 51-29.
• Minnesota improved to 4-0 all-time against teams from the SWAC, while it marked Coach Pitino's first game against a SWAC opponent.
• The Gophers have tallied 80-plus points in four-straight games for the first time since a string of five-straight games during Dec. 5-23, 2009.
• With the victory, the Gophers started the season 8-2 for the second time under Richard Pitino.
• The Gophers have held halftime leads in all but their season-opener this season.
• Nine of the 10 players who saw time on the court for the Gophers scored points.

Individual Notes
• Senior guard Andre Hollins had a game-high 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. It is the 71st career double-figure scoring game for Hollins, and is his 24th career game with 20-plus points. Hollins added a team-best four steals and dished out four assists.
• Senior forward Maurice Walker had 11 points on 4-of-5 field goals, while tying for team-high honors with six rebounds.
• Junior guard Carlos Morris had 11 points, his sixth double-figure scoring output in the past seven games. Morris made 3-of-6 field goals, while tying his career-best by dishing five assists for the second straight game.
• Senior guard DeAndre Mathieu recorded 10 points and five assists.
• Sophomore forward Charles Buggs came off the bench for seven points and four rebounds.
• Freshman center Bakary Konate was 6-of-8 at the free throw line to tie his career-high with six points and pulled down a career-best six boards.
• Senior center Elliott Eliason was 3-of-3 from the field for seven points to go with three rebounds and two blocked shots.
